Lavender is a flowering plant from the mint family and is related to rosemary, oregano and sage. Lavender's flavor is floral and some consider it soapy. It is a common ingredient in the French blend herbes de Provence. Lavender can be used in baking, to flavor ice cream and in salad dressing.
Use 1/2 teaspoon per 1 cup of flour in baking.
Lavender may be an antidepressant and an antiseptic.
