Cloves are the flower buds of an evergreen tree, has long been cultivated for culinary purposes. Used in both sweet and savory dishes, clove has a powerful flavor and pairs well with cinnamon and cumin. Common in Asian, African and Middle Eastern cuisine, it is used to flavor meats, broths and desserts. Use 1 teaspoon clove per 1 pound of meat.
Make a quick marinade by combining 1 teaspoon ground clove, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon ground cumin and 1 teaspoon salt to 1/4 cup olive oil and use to season up to 1 pound of meat.
