Anise has a similar flavor profile to licorice, fennel, and anise star. This incredibly aromatic seed is used in baking and is found as an ingredient in different types of liquor. A classic use of anise is in Italian biscotti and can add a sweet complexity to other desserts. Anise seeds can also be found in Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine and is often used interchangeably with fennel seed.
