Dill seed, the seed of the dill plant has similar flavors to caraway and dill weed, the leaf of the dill plant. Many recipes in Eastern Europe, Asia and the Mediterranean call for dill seed and a common use is in pickling brines. Dill seed can be used as is, or lightly toasted in a dry pan over medium heat until aromatic.

Add toasted dill seed to roasted vegetables or a hearty soup.

Dill seed has been used in traditional medicine to help with headaches and indigestion.
